Deadline is <strong>1 December.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Seggie_Brown_Research_Fellow\">Seggie Brown Research&nbsp;Fellow<a href=\"https:\/\/hodge.maths.ed.ac.uk\/tiki\/Positions#Seggie_Brown_Research_Fellow\"><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This is a&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maths.ed.ac.uk\/school-of-mathematics\/jobs\/william-gordon-seggie-brown-research-fellowship\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2-year fellowship open to all areas of mathematics<\/a>. The deadline is usually around mid November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"General_information\">General information<a href=\"https:\/\/hodge.maths.ed.ac.uk\/tiki\/Positions#General_information\"><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, the following job opportunities are available, with the later ones being more senior or prestigious. (Martin Kalck and Guillaume Pouchin were funded through these.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcommission1851.org.uk\/res_fellow.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Research Fellowships from the Royal Commission of 1851<\/a>&nbsp;for 3 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two-year&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newtonfellowships.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newton fellowship<\/a>&nbsp;for people currently based overseas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants-schemes-awards\/grants\/dorothy-hodgkin-fellowship\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our own&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maths.ed.ac.uk\/research\/seggie-brown-bequest\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seggie Brown Fellowships<\/a>. (Brent Pym was recently a Seggie Brown Fellow.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/epsrc.ukri.org\/skills\/fellows\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EPSRC Early Career Fellowships<\/a>&nbsp;for 5 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants\/schemes\/university-research\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Royal Society University Research Fellowships<\/a>&nbsp;for 5 years (extendable to 8 years), open to EU\/EEA citizens and those who have worked at EU\/EEA universities. (Ben Davison and Nick Sheridan have won these.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/funding-schemes\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ERC Researcher Grants<\/a>. (Agata Smoktunowicz, Arend Bayer, David Jordan, Ben Davison and Nick Sheridan have won such grants.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>(5) is usually advertised in November. Ideally contact us in late August for (7).
